The project is currently on the floor in Hyderabad, being directed by Koratala Siva. The film will feature Chiranjeevi in a double role. The film will be about a middle-aged Naxalite-social-reformer who starts a fight against the Endowments Department over misuse and embezzlement of temple funds and donations.
The project was officially launched last October. If everything goes according to plan, Mahesh Babu can be seen playing an extended cameo. Ram Charan was originally meant to play a smaller version of Chiranjeevi in the flashback part. Since he is occupied with the RRR of SS Rajamouli; The makers have chosen Mahesh instead. The cinematography of the film will be done by Tiru while Shrikar Prasad will take care of the editing. Suresh Selvarajan is handling the production design
Trisha is signed as the leading lady. He would rejoin Chiranjeevi a decade later as he worked together in AR Murugadoss's Stalin.
To be jointly produced by Konidela Production Company and Matinee Entertainment, the film marks Chiranjeevi and Koratala Siva's first collaboration. Reportedly, the producers are spending Rs 140 crore on the project.
Chiranjeevi was recently seen in the Telugu period drama Sai Ra Narasimha Reddy. In the film directed by Surender Reddy, he played the role of Kurnool-based freedom fighter Uyalwara Narasimha Reddy. Amitabh Bachchan, Nayantara, Sudeep and Vijay Sethupathi also played important roles in it.(ads2)
On a staggering budget of Rs 275 crore produced by Ram Charan, Sai Rai Narasimha Reddy grossed over Rs 300 crore at the box office. Despite major publicity and wide release, the film failed to click at the box office.
